Margaret Atwood on publishing

I’m ashamed to admit that after my reading of The Handmaid’s Tale in early high school – a book that I absolutely hated at the time, though I think it was something to do with the writing more than the story, since my sole memory of the book is of being extremely irritated with the author for dedicating an entire paragraph to describing a hallway the character was not going to be returning to and which didn’t seem to have any bearing on the plot (the basic premise of which I couldn’t even tell you now) – after that attempt, I’ve never returned to Atwood’s work again. But she is, arguably, one of Canada’s most iconic authors, and she’s really intelligent about the way the world works. And an environmentalist, to boot.

An author whose blog I read posted this the other day, which I found interesting.
