MC – main character

MG – Middle Grade; a category of books aimed mainly at pre-teens, perhaps ages 8-14.

MS – manuscript

NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month. An international writing challenge during the month of November. Official website.

Pantser – someone who doesn’t plan the story out in advance. Taken from “flying by the seat of your pants”.

Plotter – someone who outlines the story in part or full prior to writing.

POV – point of view

SF/F – science fiction / fantasy

SNI – shiny new idea

WIP – work in progress

YA – Young Adult; a category of books aimed mainly at teens, perhaps ages 14-19.
